🎻 Highworth Sessions – Keep Music Live

Last night’s session on 23 March 2026 saw slightly fewer attendees than usual, but we were delighted to welcome some new faces and the usual great vibe.

There may have been, perhaps through enthusiasm, a slight shift in pace during some tunes, which reminded us of the importance of keeping steady tempos — especially when picking up new tunes.

Next Session Tune

Our next session tune is a favourite: Banish Misfortune. Whether you love the melody or the challenge, it’s a tune that always brings energy to the session.

Looking Ahead

The next session falls on a bank holiday, so plenty of time to practice and enjoy your music.

We Want Your Input

  • What tunes would you like to see featured at future sessions?
  • Which tunes did you enjoy at the last session?
  • Any of those you’d like to learn next time?

Your feedback helps us keep sessions fun, inclusive, and full of music everyone enjoys. See you all next time!

🎻 Highworth Sessions – The Music Keeps Growing

Our second Highworth Session at The Rose & Crown last night was another lovely evening of music.

The circle grew a little, with around 12 players bringing tunes and instruments, and a small crowd gathering to listen. The room filled with the easy rhythm that only happens when musicians settle in together and let the tunes flow.

Just like the first night, the atmosphere was exactly what we hoped for:

Relaxed. Welcoming. Unhurried.

There was a great mix of reels, jigs, and polkas, with players finding the groove together and listeners enjoying the music over a pint. Sessions are never quite the same twice — and that’s part of the magic.

It’s wonderful to see something like this beginning to take root in Highworth.

A big thank you again to The Rose & Crown for continuing to support the idea and giving us such a welcoming space.

The next Highworth Session will be on Monday 23rd March 2026.

If you play an instrument, bring it along.
If you just enjoy listening to live folk music, you’re very welcome too.

Slowly but surely, the music is building.

🎻 Highworth Sessions – A Brilliant First Night at The Rose & Crown

Last night we held the very first Highworth Session at the The Rose and Crown — and what a way to begin. Around eight players gathered with instruments in hand, joined by a warm circle of listeners, bringing the room to a relaxed but vibrant 15–20 people across the evening.

The atmosphere was exactly what we’d hoped for:

Chilled. Welcoming. Musical. Unpressured.

Tunes flowed naturally. Players found each other. Listeners settled in. There was space to try things, space to listen, and space to simply enjoy being in a room where live folk music felt alive again.

A huge thank you to the staff and the owner at The Rose & Crown for backing the idea and hosting us so generously. Having a supportive venue makes all the difference when starting something new.

This is just the beginning.

The aim is simple:

To create a regular, open folk session in Highworth — a place where players of all levels feel welcome, where listeners can drop in for a pint and real music, and where a small cultural community can grow.

We’ll be back in two weeks.

If you play, come along. If you listen, you’re just as important.

Highworth Sessions has started.
